Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing today announced that Adam Jones will complete its driver pairing for their entry into the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship.The 28-year-old will race for the team after a fantastic 2008 season in which Jones finished 3rd in the Independent standings.
Jones finished the season in 9th place in the overall Drivers Championship and third in the Independents standings. The highlights of Adam’s 2008 season were four 2ndplaces, two 3rd places, making for a credible 6 podium positions.
Adam will join the ex Independent BTCC Champion and race wining driver Dan Eaves in the 2009 HiQ MSA BTCC. Dan still stands as the only BTCC driver to win all 3 races on race day, a record that’s never been broken since the introduction of the 3 sprint race format. Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing will be looking to build a successful 2009 BTCC season with such a strong driver pairing.
The team is made up with a vibrant mix of experienced motorsport professionals, who arecommitted to achieving the team's objectives in association with its strategic partners and aim to build on Adam’s success from last season. Birmingham born Jones said: "It’s great to be driving for the team this coming season. They have been working flat out to get on the grid and I’m sure we will be very competitive and hit the ground running, I’m looking forward to having a team mate for the first time in the BTCC and I’m sure we will push each other throughout the season and surprise a few people along the way.”
Dan Eaves was very happy with the news and said “It’s good to have Adam as a team mate, his experience of the car is going to be very useful to me and the team. I’m sure with the two of us on the grid we will get some good results”.
Colin Neill, CVR’s team boss, commented: "I am delighted that Adam has come on board and joined Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing. Adam had a fantastic season last year and will be a real asset to the team. Adam and Dan are totally focused on the season ahead. Both drivers have set themselves some realistic goals in their first season together and where they want to be. The team are totally focused on the first round at Brands Hatch in April and are currently preparing the cars for our first test day.” The Team will be running two bio-ethanol fuelled Seat Leon’s as part of its Carbon Zero operation.
